The Humm service operates in Australia and lets you buy now, pay later with interest free finance. Instead of paying in full upfront, Humm lets you spread payments out over time with their interest free plans.
With 2.6 million customers, Humm can enable you to spread the cost of your purchases over a fortnightly or monthly basis.
Unlike other providers, Humm allows you to borrow up to $30,000 using two different digital wallets. With the first wallet, called ‘Little things’, you can spend up to $2,000. The second wallet, called ‘Big things’, is a pre-agreed amount for you to spend on big-ticket items up to a potential $30,000.
Your ‘Little things’ balance is repaid in either five or 10 fortnightly payments, while your ‘Big things’ repayments can be spread over six months to five years, interest-free.
Humm does Buy Now Pay Later and interest free finance a little differently. Instead of just focusing on the little joys in life, Humm allows our customers to fund whatever they need, both big and little.
This means Humm splits their product in two:
Little things on all your purchases up to $2,000,
and Big things for over $2,000 and up to $30,000.
Each of them has its own rules for approval, but Humm never charges interest.
You can apply for up to $2,000
You can repay in five fortnightly or ten weekly instalments
Make a repayment and free up your balance for future purchases
Get approved online or in-store for up to $10,000
Apply in store for up to $30,000 depending on what you buy and where you shop
Repay over 6, 12, 24, 36 months
Payments are spread over time with Humm – from 5 or 10 fortnightly repayments for Humm Little things, to 60 monthly repayments for Humm Big things. Repayment sources can be bank accounts, debit cards, or credit cards which you choose when submitting your application.
If repayments are nominated, they are automatically deducted from the account when they are due. Humm’s app displays a repayment schedule so you can keep track of your payments.
Humm promises never to charge interest. There are, however, a few other fees to keep in mind. When you make repayments over 10 fortnights for purchases of up to $2,000 from the ‘Little things’ wallet, Humm charges an $8 monthly fee. If you pay over five fortnights, this fee is waived.
For the Humm’ Big things’ wallet, there is also an $8 monthly fee and additional establishment fees, which range from $35 – $90 for the first purchase and $22 for a repeat purchase. A late payment fee of $6 will be charged if you miss a payment.
