Having problems with your Air Conditioner?

Summer is approaching, temperatures are rising and the scorching day has convinced you to start up your air conditioner again. Except there’s one problem. It’s not working.

We see it all the time. A frustrated home-owner calls us to fix a problem with their AC. It’s hot outside, the kids are cranky and they just can’t wait until tomorrow for a technician to arrive. We get it, and we want to help. Sometimes there are simple solutions that you can do at home and avoid the price tag that comes with calling out a technician to change your batteries. Here are the most common problems we have encountered and easy solutions you can try at home:

MY AIR CONDITIONER IS NOT HEATING/COOLING

Change the settings on your controller to the lowest temperature possible (16°C-18°C) OR to the highest temperature possible (28°C -30°C)
Set to HIGH fan (not auto)
Close all windows and doors and leave the system running for 10 minutes.

If your air conditioner still isn’t heating/cooling this could be the result of blocked, dirty filters reducing the air flow OR low refrigerant levels.

MY AIR CONDITIONER HAS FLASHING LIGHTS/ERROR CODE

Try resetting the unit using instructions below.

If your air conditioner is still showing flashing lights, or an error code. Please take a video/photo or note down the pattern. This is your machines way of telling you what is wrong!

MY AIR CONDITIONER WON’T TURN ON

The lack of power can be something as simple as old batteries, a tripped switch or a blown fuse. If your batteries are new, try resetting the machine at the switch board, or isolator which can be found near the outdoor unit.

Switch the isolator to the “OFF” position
Leave it for roughly 20-30 minutes.
Switch the isolator to the “ON” position
This should reset the system, and hopefully fix any problems you had!

If your air conditioner still isn’t turning on, or the switch keeps tripping, this could be the sign of a bigger problem, which may involve replacement parts.

MY AIR CONDITIONER IS LEAKING WATER

When you use your air conditioner, it is normal for some condensation to form. This water drips into a pan and down a drain leading away from your home. If water is dripping or leaking out of the machine rather than down the pipe, you may be experiencing a clogged, overflowing drain. Alternatively, your system may be working overtime to keep the room cool. This struggle to keep up with the continuous flow of warm air will overheat the machine and cause condensation to form on the outside

Change the settings on your controller to the lowest temperature possible (16°C-18°C)
Set to HIGH fan (not auto)
Close all windows and doors and leave the system running for 10 minutes

Alternatively, if experiencing a clogged drain, your unit is in desperate need of a service. We recommend servicing your air conditioning system annually, or every 6 months if used regularly.
